'Blaze SIX - Pack' series

Burghfield SC played host in December and January to the 'Blaze SIX - Pack' series that finished on 30th January. Only in it's first year the event
succeeded in attracting 22 competitors from the host club and half a dozen others around the south. Conditions ranged from 'full-on' to 'barely-on' over the six weekends and the 'Wet & Wild' supported event tested all, sometimes to and beyond the limit ! The dedication of those competing was simply staggering with a couple of the visitors travelling nearly 100 miles each way to attend every weekend and one, Bob Yates, somehow fitting in enough races to qualify despite working 1000 miles south of Moscow during his 'return' weekends !

In the final reckoning local Mike Lyons produced a minimum points total but was pressed exceedingly hard by Ian Foxwell from Chipstead SC particularly on the lighter days. Another local Simon Beddows, also proving very fast on the lighter days, took third place overall from the close fought battle between Paul Taylor and Ian Moss of Whitefriars SC for fourth and fifth that went to the very last of the 12 races.

The Blaze Association thank both Burghfield for hosting this inaugural
'SIX-Pack' and 'Wet and Wild' for supporting the event. The popular 'SIX-PACK mini-series format will be repeated next year at Burghfield and by coincidence the club is also host much sooner in April to the first of the 2005 season Blaze Travellers series opens.
